Pioneering female executive with over 30 years experience serving at the highest levels of the National Bank of Belgium.

Working alongside world leaders and in international organisations from the European Central Bank (ECB) and Bank for International Settlements (BIS) to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Trusted advisor to Fortune 500 companies on how to adapt their strategy to public policy change and respond effectively to crises and disruption. Avid and admired sailor.


Initiated global roadshows from London to Hong Kong, promoting innovative Belgian financial instruments.

Drafted the Belgian government’s first competition law as a member of the Prime Minister’s cabinet.

Worked closely with Wim Duisenberg, the first President of the European Central Bank, and with the Belgian Government to enter the Euro system.

Modernised public financial products, monetary policy instruments and mergers and acquisitions in Belgian public banks.

Advised Belgian Ministers on some of the toughest policy issues, chaired the High Council of Employment and advised on sensitive social affairs.

Served as Belgium’s Alternate at the Governing Council of the European Central Bank (ECB) and the General Council of Eurosystem.

Served as a member of the Economic and Finance Committee at Ecofin, and as alternate on the Board of Directors of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) for over a decade.

  • First woman to become Vice-Governor at the National Bank of Belgium in its 168 year history.
  • Led cultural change at the Bank of Belgium that made teams more diverse in gender, age and origin.
